The Fisker Ocean is one of the most hotly-anticipated Electric SUVs out there. Not least because you can press a button to drop eight windows at conce so you can fit your surfboards in through the tailgate and drive around in the warm sea breeze. Okay, maybe that’s not the biggest draw for UK drivers. But the range certainly will be: Fisker has announced that the Ocean will have a WLTP range of up to 440 miles/770km. That’s enough to get from central London to Glasgow without a stop. Although realistically, you’ll probably need a wee somewhere near Manchester.
“From the beginning, we planned the Fisker Ocean to deliver the highest level of design, sustainability, innovation, usability, and range. We created a fantastic 5-passenger vehicle, offering our buyers range confidence andc onvenience in every trip,” CEO Henrik Fisker said.
“This achievement isa major milestone for everyone at Fisker, and we are delighted the range exceeds our initial calculations,” he added.
The Ocean packs a 100kWh battery, and the top-spec Ocean Extreme also gets a solar roof, which realistically isn’t going to add a huge amount to the range when driving (especially in the UK) but will trickle charge the battery whenever it’s sunny. The 440-mile range makes it the longest range electric SUV currently available. Or it will, when the Ocean is finally available: Fisker expects European homologation to be sorted by the end of April with deliveries for pre-orders following shortly after. If you haven’t pre-ordered yours yet, then you can configure your Ocean on the Fisker website.
