HiPhi, the EV manufacturer based in China had been quiet for a while, but after a short slumber, it’s finally revealed what could be the company’s magnum opus, the HiPhi A, a four-door electric hypercar that is blitzing fast and has mind-blowing power and is expected to launch in 2025.
We know adjectives like astonishing and mind-blowing get thrown around a lot, but is the A (sorry, I think that’s a poor naming choice) the ultimate four-seater car, and maybe even a truly unique step in the evolution of hypercars?
How does HiPhi A stack against Rimac Nevera?
Let’s get it out of the way. Is it going to rival the Rimac Nevera? Probably not, but we think it could come quite close. With one motor at the front axle and two more at the rear, the HiPhi A boasts a staggering power of 1,287bhp.
What does that mean? It means that the car, unveiled at HiPhi’s HQ in Shanghai through a livestream event, can go from 0 to 62mph in just over 2.1 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 187mph (that’s almost 300km/hr).
It might be a bit behind the Nevera, but let’s be honest, what car isn’t?
> Run it back: Rimac Nevera breaks speed record for driving in reverse
The drivetrain used by HiPhi — it’s the first time that the Chinese auto manufacturer has developed a high-performing powertrain in-house — looks extremely promising. Based on the 800V platform, the motors adopt industry-leading carbon-fibre rotor design, matched with full oil-cooling and magnetic cylinder coil direct-cooling technology, meaning it can achieve a ridiculous 22,000rpm and maintain ultra-high power output for up to 30 minutes.
What about looks?
If the HiPhi A has killer power, it doesn’t lack too much in looks, too.
The car features a cutting-edge styling of carbon fibre and matte paint finish inspired by the future aesthetic of the HiPhi range. It also has wide front and rear wing panels, for reducing drag and adding downforce, while also sporting extra wide tires.
Inside, the HiPhi A offers all the LuxTech details that you’d expect from a HiPhi at this point, including the front-row driver-focused set-up featuring the revolutionary HiPhi Bot and the spacious and comfortable rear ensuring that the HiPhi A truly is the ultimate four-door four-seater and a digital EV hypercar for the next generation.
When can we see it?
Set to be produced in a limited series run, HiPhi A is set to be produced in a limited series run, scheduled to commence production and delivery in the first quarter of 2025. However, we expect that the car, in all its glory, should be on physical display at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 17 2023.
It’s being touted as the hypercar of the next generation by HiPhi, and it seems rightfully so. It is the product of the collaboration between HiPhi and WESAIL New Energy Automotive, blending HiPhi-developed battery and motor technology with WESAIL New Energy Automotive’s Apollo traditional hypercar elements.
David Ding, HiPhi Founder, Chairman and CEO, said, “Current trends will always continue to evolve and change with the advancement of technology and the passage of time, while classic and refined luxury has an enduring appeal.
“From the internal combustion engine era to the new era of intelligent electric mobility, the top hypercars should represent the pinnacle of innovative technology while still paying tribute to the classics, showcasing the transformative nature as a way to look toward the future.
“The combination of HiPhi’s luxury product concept, first-class development and industrial capabilities with WESAIL New Energy Automotive’s Apollo supercar elements, combined with the technical expertise and innovation from ShanghaiTech University, makes HiPhi A what it is – a true work of art for this new era.”
