Peugeot E-Rifter gets new look and more range

Sharper appearance and more driving range for Peugeot’s clever EV MPV

Peugeot’s seven-seater EV MPV, has benefitted from a mid-lifecycle refresh. The French brand has updated some styling elements and cabin digitisation for its E-Rifter, while also extending range.

A shapelier front bumper, reformatted grille and redesigned headlamps give this ultra-practical Peugeot EV a more distinctive and contemporary appearance. The new front details are geometrically themed without being too ornate or fussy in execution.

For buyers who value colourways, there are two new hues to choose from: Sirkka green and Kiama blue.

Inside the E-Rifter, the same clever packaging remains, with seating for seven, despite its easily manageable exterior vehicle dimensions. When configured for transporting items instead of passengers, total load capacity is a deeply impressive 4000-litres.

Peugeot’s latest 10-inch infotainment touchscreen takes pride of place in the updated cabin, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto device integration. For those passengers who require their devices to be changing on the go, there are many more power sockets to prevent low-battery level anxiety when travelling. The E-Rifter cabin now features one traditional 230V power point, augmented by three USB ports, two of which are the ‘C’ configuration and one being an ‘A’.

Despite the new look and enhanced cabin features, E-Rifter’s powertrain is unchanged. It draws power from a 50kWh battery pack, instead of Peugeot’s latest 54kWh battery and 156hp motor combination, available on other models.

Although E-Rifter’s battery specification has not improved, its range has, with driving endurance now rated at 199 miles, nearly a quarter better than before. Performance is adequate for a seven-seater compact MPV, with the 136hp motor powering the E-Rider from 0-62mph in 11.2 seconds. Its 270Nm of peak torque should deliver responsive low-speed roll-on acceleration.

With an electric architecture upgrade to accommodate 100kW DC charging, the E-Rider battery pack can now be charged from near zero to 80 per cent capacity, in only half an hour.
